Proposed cuts to the fire service.

December 7th 2011 will be remembered as the day when the spending cuts will affect the local communities of Hemsworth, South Elmsall and South Kirkby. Our team of roving reporters attended the 7pm Public meeting consultation at the Grove in South Kirkby to witness the heated debate and maybe a ''done deal''. The room was attended by a few members of the public, but well attended by plenty of Labour Councillors and supporters, along with Fire fighters from the 2 fire-stations that are to be ear-marked for closure. The 3 Fire Chiefs who incidentally did not come from the local areas by their own admission, started by saying that £18m had to be cut from the West Yorkshire spending budget which included South Elmsall and Hemsworth fire stations, they went on to say that the figures they had showed why these 2 stations had to close and that redundancies would occur. Members of the public we're concerned because if these proposals went ahead they would be at risk from fires, in response to these concerns the Fire Chiefs said that these areas we're at LOW RISK compared to the other areas in the West Yorkshire Brigade, one appliance would be made operational and fully manned up, while the other one would be idle. The proposed site could well be the former colliery site at South Kirkby and that the Council hold the lease to this site. During the debate Councillor Tom Alsopp the local Labour Party Chairman stood up and said '' why are there people here from Hemsworth, Kinsley and Fitzwilliam here, when this meeting is just for South Kirkby'' his question was met by an angry response, one gentleman said '' Im from Hemsworth and I couldn't attend the previous meeting there because I was working shifts, any way this is a public meeting''. Questions we're still being asked to the Fire Chiefs until Councillor Laurie Harrison stood up and said'' This is Democracy and I would like to have a show of hands and wrap it up because I have had a long day'' and that he and Councilor Tulley would relay the out-come to the Council Chamber at Wakefield he said that it was the fault of the Conservative Government who was to blame for these cut backs, he failed to mention it was his own party that had got Britain into this mess in the first place, the time was only 8:30pm at this stage and answers we're still needed by the few members of the public. It was noted that the local MP Jon Trickett was absent from this meeting.

Another good deed

Darren Lumb the Wakefield and 5 Towns British National Party organiser has donated another £500 to a local organisation, this time in his own village of South Elmsall. The Yorkshire Rose First Aid Society was in need of funds to buy essential medical equipment, he secured £500 and made a date to donate the cheque. Mrs Tina Wood the Superintendant of the society and her Husband Frank welcomed Darren at the Miners Institution in Moorthorpe, South Elmsall with open arms. Tina told of her plight to secure funding for the youngsters to learn First Aid. she said the First Aid society had been established for over 17 years and they had struggled with one thing and another, she went on to say that she asked the local Labour run Town Council for a donation and all they have given was a paultry £20 in all the 17 years of being in the village. Darren was appauled at this and said to Tina '' If you want anything else please do not hesitate to ask me''

Darren in recent months has donated £500 to South Kirkby Church for the clock repair and only a few weeks ago donated £500 to Carlton Main & Frickley Colliery Brass Band. The British National Party really is doing good things never mind what the left wing lunatics say.

Europhile gets his own way.

This is Laurie Harrison, a Labour councillor in South Kirkby for 50 years, he has been campaigning to have a new link road to the A1 in West Yorkshire named after a German town Sprockhoeval,after months of wrangling, petitions and forced the local population to pay for a district judge to decide on the naming of the new road which cost in the region of £30m. The area is steeped in history, mining, farming an Anglo-Saxon camp, but he has ignored all this because he twinned South Kirkby with Sprockhoeval over 30 years ago. Sprockhoeval has a road named after South Kirkby called South Kirkby Strasse. He has not given a last thought about the heritage of the South East of the Wakefield district. A young lad called Luke Farmer from Upton joined the Army and was tragically killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010, why didn't this road become a lasting memorial to him.

Whats more he has made a political blunder by calling a war hero in nearby Upton ''a clown of the village''. Mr Don Crossley flew on Lancaster bombers in WW2 in which many of his friends succumbed to their fate flying deadly missions to prevent the Nazi's from gaining anymore ground.

What will be the next blunder he will come out with ?. Its time for the good people of this region to take stock and remember all that has been going on with this corrupt ''politician'' and his so called Labour party collegues before its too late. Sold down the European river

 Above is the google map of South Kirkby, South Elmsall and surrounding areas, you may be wondering why I have done this, wonder no more all will become a little clearer as this article continues.

Above is the Google map of Sprockhovel, a town in Germany, why the connection I can hear you say. Well a new A1 link road was built at a cost of around £32 million, and had no name, so Councillor Laurie Harrison in all his wisdom decided it was only right to name it after the twinned town in Germany, South Kirkby has been twinned with Sprockhoeval for about 30 years, because as Cllr Harrison puts it the 2 towns have a mining connection.

There has been a public outcry over this and objections from the local people in South Kirkby me being one of them, Cllr Harrison has made this a political stunt with no thought of the culture, heritage and traditions that have been past down through the ages, and after the arguments a District Judge was called to determine the outcome what the name should be. That name will now be SPROCKHOEVAL WAY. 

All well and good you may say, but lets go down the heritage route first, South Kirkby & South Elmsall are surrounded by rural landscapes and farms, both the towns had a very lucrative mining industry, which were decimated after the famous miner's strike in 1984/5, but still the road could've been named after the mining, there is a Saxon camp site situated in South Kirkby that could've been used.

A soldier from nearby Upton was killed in action in Afghanistan in January 2010 aged just 19 Luke Farmer, he was a popular lad who had many friends, he liked to play rugby, his name would've been more appropiate for the new link road.

This is Councillor Laurie Harrison, a Labour Party stalwart, some say he is not well liked in the community but he keeps on getting elected. This could be his final blunder, lets hope so.
